While almost everyone knows their shoe size by heart, few people know how wide their feet are. When it comes to finding the right shoe, not only the length matters, but also the width of your foot. We use four categories for our hiking shoes: narrow, standard (or medium), wide and extra wide.
Feet of medium width are most common. The majority of all women have a medium-width foot, but within a medium width you may lean more towards narrow or wide. Really narrow shoes and extra-wide shoes do not have the right fit. Shoes that are too wide or too narrow for your feet can cause problems such as blisters, corns, black toenails and calluses.
