While almost everyone knows their shoe size by heart, few people know how wide their feet are. When it comes to finding the right shoe, not only the length matters, but also the width of your foot. We use four categories for our hiking shoes: narrow, standard (or medium), wide and extra wide.
Extra-wide feet are less common, but certainly not a small minority. Especially for extra-wide feet that go together with a high instep, an extra-wide shoe is a real solution. For women too, the range of extra-wide walking shoes is impressive by now. Hiking shoes that are not wide or high enough can cause problems such as instep pain, calluses or even bone growth. A pinching shoe can also cause a hot and burning sensation due to too much friction.
