Choosing Climbing Shoes at OutdoorXL
For every type of climbing, there is a climbing shoe that performs optimally. Unfortunately, no climbing shoe is perfect for every type. This is because, for certain types of climbing, a curved shoe with a firm toe works better. In other cases, a flat shoe with soft rubber is ideal. It is therefore important to choose the right climbing shoe. At OutdoorXL, we’re happy to help you find the perfect climbing shoe.
How do you find the right climbing shoe?
Before choosing a climbing shoe, it’s important to consider the following points:
- What will you use the shoe for? (Is it for sport climbing, bouldering, outdoor climbing, etc.)
- How long have you been climbing, and what are your goals?
- Do you need a shoe with a soft rubber sole or a harder rubber sole?
- Do you need a more aggressive climbing shoe, or is it better to go less aggressive to ultimately climb more distance in a session with the shoes?
What applies to every climbing shoe is that it should fit well to the foot. The shoe should feel uncomfortable but not cause pain.
